Recently, my boyfriend and I have been frequenting cafes a lot due to work meetings when we discovered Stockwell Cafe + Lounge at Tomas Morato. Stockwell is a specialty coffee shop which serves premium coffees using alternative brewing methods. They have a good selection of menu from breakfast until dinner and even after dinner. *Ehem ehem wine!*
Their place has a nice working atmosphere on it. If you’re familiar to startups, then Stockwell actually has a co-working space feel on it. I found a good place to hang-out next time with my laptop. Hehe…
You can also borrow a LED lamp from their staff if you want to read.
While waiting for our order, we explored their cafe a bit and learned that their selection of coffee beans came from different locations and you can choose your preferred bean.
According to Stockwell, here is how their beans are different from each other:
- Kapatagan – floral notes, slightly acidic with hint of nut and jasmine.
- Matutum – low acidity with hint of nut and chocolate.
- Benguet – medium acidity with tamarind/ berries and vanilla notes.
- Brazil – full body and low acidity, nutty sweet chocolate taste.
- Columbia – medium acidity with hazelnut and almond tone.
- Guatamela – full bodied, fruity notes.
One of their specialty coffee is the Stockwell 50/50. It came with Hot (Php 150.00) and Cold (Php 160.00) option. It’s named 50/50 because it’s 50% coffee and 50% secret ingredient. I’m curious what’s the secret ingredient.
Their Hot Stockwell 50/50 is one of the best tasting coffee I tasted. The top is sprinkled with cocoa powder. The taste is similar to dark mocha but it’s consistency is a bit creamier.
The cold version is also good but it’s not as good as the hot version. It’s more similar to a frappe. It’s good when you just want to chill.
For our appetizer, we had their Sausage Platter (Php 230.00). It consists of Schublig, Hungarian and Bratwurst with fries on the side.
For dinner, I had their Buffalo Chicken Sandwich (Php 235.00). And I must say that its price is worth its size. Their chicken is also a bit spicy.
On the other hand, my hubby had their Truffle Mushroom Linguine (Php 250.00). This is not your typical mushroom pasta as it is oil-based rather than cream-based. The pasta has a nice smell on it.
We also tried their Chicken Cordon Bleu (Php 220.00). I love that it has a generous amount of mozzarella.
And since we heard that they can offer made-to-order latte arts, we need to had one for ours! Check out our WhatsUp.ph’s coffee. Yay! They offer free made-to-order latte art on your Hot Latte (Php 120.00) as long as it’s doable. (Note: I had a hard time sleeping after finishing 3 different coffees in one night.)
A video of our latte art being crafted in action. Woohoo! So happy for it.
They are also offering a Valentine’s Special Menu complete with Soup, Salad, Steak or Salmon, Dessert and Wine. So call them now if you want to reserve a dating spot for your special someone. 😉
