If you work at Makati, chances are, you’ve already heard of Izakaya Kikufuji. Izakaya Kikufuji is a famous Japanese restaurant at Little Tokyo. The term Izakaya is use to refer to a drinking establishment which also serves food.
This is our first time here and we’ve heard a lot about how the place is jam-packed during dinner. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait long for a slot as we’re only 2. We’re also able to park at Makati Cinema Square just across Little Tokyo.
To make the most of our first time here, we decided to order their Tokumori – 15 pieces (Php 1,100.00). It’s pretty expensive but I must tell you, it’s all worth it! So far, my favorite on the sushi platter is the Unagi (Eel) Sushi – the one with the cooked fish. I consider Unagi Sushi as a conservative choice because unlike the other sushis, it’s cooked. Next to it is the Maguro (Tuna) Sushi – the one with the red topping. I tasted many Tuna Sushis before on eat-all-you-can buffets and you can really see the difference of their Maguro Sushi. It’s so soft that it’s like it’s melting in your mouth. And the funny thing is, I’m not exaggerating. The bottom on my list is the Uni (Cucumber) Sushi – the green slimy looking sushi. I’m not sure but it’s texture is just weird.
We also ordered a slice of Gindara (Php 395.00). Luckily, we didn’t order for a rice to accompany it because at this point, we’re already full. We didn’t expect that we’ll get full with just eating sushis. But we didn’t regret ordering Gindara as it was really delicious especially with all the teriyaki sauce on it.
At the end of the day, we walked-away with a happy and full tummy. We’ll kinda missed this place as I know that it will be a while since we’ll be able to come back here due to their expensive prices.
P.S. A few walk away to Izakaya Kikufuji is a Japanese grocery. It’s a great place to browse for some Japanese stuffs.
