My boyfriend was craving for a baby back ribs when a friend recommended Cajun Red Rock to us. Cajun Red Rock is known for its ribs and burgers. Since then, we’ve been at their Retiro branch twice and our experience has both been great.
To share some of the foods we ate at Cajun:
For the record, Cajun actually made me enjoy eating onion rings. I seldom eat onion rings because I don’t like the taste of onions but I made an exception on their Tower O’ Sesame Rings (Php 265.00). Their onion rings are really gigantic and taste good. It came with 3 dips: Sesame (top-center), Jack Daniel’s (lower left) and Honey Mustard (lower right) with the sesame dip being my favorite. Despite its name and appearance, I find the sesame dip tastes like toyomansi (soy sauce with calamansi) which is unexpectedly a good match to the onion rings.
Their Hawaiian Burger (Php 280.00 + Php 70.00 – Make It A Volcano Add-on) is juicy and is overflowing with melted mozzarella cheese. I love the “grilled” taste of the pineapple in their burger.
The Saffron Rice (Php 90.00) is okay: not good but not bad also. It tastes similar to a Java rice.
Luckily, we brought along a friend (during our first visit) who’ve been here before. He recommended us the Louisiana Buffalo Wings (Php 325.00) and I love it! It’s one of the best buffalo wings I’ve tasted. It’s crispy and crunchy and taste spicy with a hint of sweetness. I can also taste that there are some other spices used, which makes it unique to other buffalo wings, but I can’t pinpoint them.
And for the highlight: Ribs Sample Platter (Php 995.00). It’s a set of delicious baby back ribs cooked using different sauces. From left: Jack Daniels, Heinz and Bourbon. I can’t really differentiate much the taste of Heinz from Bourbon, but among the 3, the Jack Daniels has the strongest taste. Their baby back ribs also comes with a good size of meat which you can easily cut with a fork.
We also got lucky on our last visit here when the store manager surprised us with a free Frozen Margarita (without alcohol). 😀 The ice on their Frozen Margarita is very fine. I literally ate it. On the picture, you can also see the strawberry syrup being poured on the Frozen Margarita.
Overall, we enjoyed eating at Cajun. The place has a casual atmosphere which makes people feel relaxed. The service is also great. The waitress is attentive and I like how the store manager is very cheerful to the customers.
